First though would be to contact your bank as they have a very good knowledge of your financial situation. Usually the interest rates are better than here.

However, your bank will ask for guarantees in your fiscal country of residency, for example on unmortgaged properties or financial assets you may have. Indeed, the bank won’t take the risk to have a guarantee on your Portuguese property.

A good thing to know is that many foreign banks are represented in Portugal, like Portuguese banks are available in many other countries.

This solution would allow you to benefit from interest rates applied in your national territory, while using your Portuguese property for guarantee. Another option is a loan guarantee as an alternative to a mortgage.
